ClimateLaunchpad, is the world’s largest green business ideas competition and is a program by Climate-KIC; EU’s main climate innovation initiative, aiming to highlight the best cleantech ideas across the globe.

In order to participate, all you need is an idea. That idea can be an innovation in renewable energy, a sustainable transition in the food chain, a mind shift in urban mobility or any other way to tackle climate change. As long as it’s in the cleantech domain: “a scientific innovation that uses existing technology to do more with fewer resources, and has a commercial driver.”
Even if the idea is still “on the back of a napkin”, people are most welcome to apply.  Participation in the competition is free.

If selected to participate, start-ups go through an intensive and highly interesting training program, through which they will be able to develop their business idea and prepare for the National Finals. The top three finalists will be able to compete in the Global Finals in November.

The first winner of the Global Final also receives a cash prize of €10,000, the runner up gets €5,000 and the team that comes in third place wins €2,500. The most important award however, is the access to the Climate-KIC accelerator programs, which offer further equity free funding and access to training, networking and overall, an once in a lifetime opportunity to develop an idea into a sustainable business.
