Dr. Antonis Tampouras

Antonis Tampouras was born and raised in Nicosia and originates from occupied Morphou and Trachona. He holds a PhD in “Curriculum Studies, Teaching, and Comparative Education” from the Department of Education of the University of Cyprus, with a specialization in European Policy. He also holds a Bachelor’s degree in “Education Sciences – Primary Education” and a Master’s degree in “Curriculum Studies and Comparative Education” from the University of Cyprus. He received scholarships for both his postgraduate and doctoral studies. His main research interests include European Policy and International Relations, Global Governance of Education, the study and development of Curriculum, Theory and Methodology of Teaching, Sociology of Curriculum, Teachers’ Professional Subjectivity, Teachers’ Life Histories, Textbook Research, Emotional Intelligence in Education, phenomena of Educational Borrowing, and Comparative Education. His research has been presented at local and international conferences and has been published in journals and conference proceedings. Beyond his academic interests, he is actively engaged in public affairs, Youth issues, as well as European and International matters. Between 2016 and 2020, he worked as a Research Associate at the Department of Education of the University of Cyprus. Since the academic year 2020, he has been employed as a Special Scientist in Research and Teaching at the Department of Education of the University of Cyprus and as a Trainer of optional seminars for teachers at the Cyprus Pedagogical Institute. At the same time, he participates as a Researcher in Research Programs of the University of Cyprus. Both his Master’s and Doctoral dissertations focus on European policy and how it is formulated, designed, and promoted at the European level, as well as how it is perceived and implemented in the local context. In April 2025, he was appointed by the President of the Republic of Cyprus as a member of the Bi-communal Technical Committee on Youth Affairs.
