The Cyprus Youth Council bids farewell with deep sorrow to Kostas Gavriilidis, co-founder of Accept Cyprus, a member organisation of the Cyprus Youth Council, and a prominent figure of the LGBTI+ movement in Cyprus.

Kostas Gavriilidis was a pioneering advocate for human rights, making a substantial contribution to the public visibility, institutional recognition and social acceptance of LGBTI+ individuals in our country. Through consistency and well-documented public discourse, he stood firmly against discrimination and contributed to the development of a more inclusive social framework.

His contribution to the establishment and work of Accept Cyprus, as well as to the organisation of the first Cyprus Pride, constitutes an important legacy for society and particularly for the younger generation, which continues to strive for equality, dignity and respect.

The Cyprus Youth Council expresses its sincere condolences to his family, the close circle, and all those individuals who stood by us as companions along the way.
