Cyprus Youth Council at the Parliamentary Committee on Legal Affairs, Justice and Public Order
The Cyprus Youth Council attended the meeting of the Parliamentary Committee on Legal Affairs, Justice and Public Order, which took place on Wednesday, 18 February 2026, at the House of Representatives.
Within the framework of the agenda, the following items were discussed:
The Law on the Parliamentary Legislative Initiative of Citizens (Procedure, Terms and Conditions for Submission) and Related Matters of 2016 (continuation of the discussion in principle), concerning the introduction and regulation of the institution of citizens’ legislative initiative.
The Citizens’ Initiative Law of 2025 (discussion in principle), which regulates the procedure for submitting proposals by citizens to the Government for the undertaking of specific action.
The Cyprus Youth Council was represented by the First Vice President, Theofilos Constantinou.
The Council’s presence in discussions concerning participatory democracy and the institutional empowerment of citizens reaffirms its steady commitment to strengthening the voice of youth in public dialogue.
