On Thursday, 8 January 2026, the first meeting of the new Board of Directors (BoD) of the Cyprus Youth Council was held at the Council’s offices, marking the official commencement of the Board’s term of office as well as the beginning of the new year. During the meeting, the foundations were laid for the organisation’s planning for the forthcoming period, and the Board of Directors was formally constituted.

Composition of the new Board of Directors:

General Secretary: Eleni Siabtani — EDON

Secretary for Financial Affairs: Andreas Kafetzi — Cyprus Scouts Association

Secretary for Programme Development: Nikolas Thomas — NEDIK

Secretary for Public Relations: Stamatis Papavasileiou — Green Youth

Secretary for International Relations: Anastasia Andreou — ESN Cyprus

Press and Information Secretary: Nefeli Palazi — PEO Working Youth

The new Board of Directors reaffirms its commitment to continue working with consistency and responsibility towards strengthening the voice of young people in Cyprus, as well as towards shaping and promoting policies that respond to both the needs and the contemporary challenges faced by young people today. These include, among others, issues such as housing, precarious working conditions, accessibility, and the meaningful and unhindered participation of young people in political and social life.

At the same time, the commitment to raising awareness and promoting issues related to mental health, inclusivity, environmental protection, and climate change, as well as to fostering and promoting peace, remains steadfast. Particular emphasis is placed on the need to further strengthen communication and cooperation with the Turkish Cypriot youth.
