📣 Ιn the framework of the European program” You(th) in Local Governance,” the Cyprus Youth Council (CYC) in collaboration with the organization Oxygen for Democracy are pleased to announce the organisation of the three-day Conference “Shaping Tomorrow: Youth in Local Governance”. The Conference will be held between 20 -22 June 2025 at Park Beach Hotel in Yermasoyia, Limassol.
🔷 Purpose of the Conference:
The conference aims to empower youth participation in democratic life, with a particular focus on decision-making processes at the local and regional levels. It seeks to strengthen the role of Municipal and Community Youth Councils, as well as other youth-led structures, in shaping local governance and policies that affect young people’s lives.
Through a three-day participatory and interactive dialogue, young people from across Cyprus will have the opportunity to discuss common challenges and needs, share good practices, develop key skills, and co-create policy proposals that meaningfully enhance youth engagement in local governance.
The conference aspires to generate concrete policy recommendations that can contribute to the development of strategic frameworks at both national and European levels. This process aims to support the revitalisation of democracy, the promotion of active citizenship, and the implementation of the EU Youth Strategy, the EU Youth Goals, and broader alignment with Recommendation Rec(2001)19 of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, as well as the European Charter on the Participation of Young People in Local and Regional Life, adopted by the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe.
🔷 Profile of the participants:
- Young people be aged 16 – 35 years
- Youth Workers in the field of Youth Policy (16 – 35 years old)
- Representatives of Youth Organizations (16 – 35 years old)
- Young people involved in municipal or community youth
- Young people actively involved in Youth NGOs (is not a prerequisite for participation)
- Young people with fewer opportunities
- Young people who will be able to take part in all the workshops
🔷 Working language:
The working language of the seminar will be Greek and English.
🔷 Information about costs, accommodation and food:
Participants will incur a participation fee of €30 which will cover full boarding and lodging during the seminar After the selection, each participant is responsible to pay the fee at least four (4) days before the Conference.
🔷 Transportation Expenses:
Each participant who will travel to the Conference area in their private car will transportation costs will be covered based on kilometer distance. In order to receive the above amount, relevant evidence must be submitted.

-Participants that will participate in all conference activities will receive a certificate of attendance.
-There is a limited number of participants.
-Priority will be given to applicants
- From Cyprus Youth Council member organisations and members of Oxygen for Democracy.
- Who are volunteers and participants of other programs of the Cyprus Youth Council and the Oxygen for Democracy (e.g. Youth Ambassadors of the European Youth Dialogue).
- Who participanted in the workshops organized within the ” You(th) in Local Governance ” project.
A number of places will also be given to young people who have a growing interest in youth issues or have fewer opportunities, but do not belong to a member organization of the Cyprus Youth Council.
