This May hundreds of young European voters will gather in Denmark, working together to strengthen the voice of youth in the upcoming European election and demand that the politicians of EU are listening!
100 young people between the age of 18 to 25 from all over Europe and 100 Danish folk high school students will meet and join forces around the issues concerning youth in Europe. The youth will spend four days on a Danish folk high school together with young Europeans, and three days at the summit on the Youth Island. The results from the summit will be handed over to the newly elected European Parliament later this year. The themes on this summit will be Youth under pressure, Culture & Identity, Climate, Refugees & Migration and EU in the World.
The event is a collaboration between Nyt Europa and FFD – the Danish folk high schools and aims to engage the European youth in the future of the European Union.
The ’Young Europe is Voting’ project aspires to facilitate the possibility for young Europeans to share dreams, discussions and reflections on their future in Europe. The overall concept includes the following agendas:
- To strengthen the voice of the youth in the public debate in connection with the European Parliamentary election in 2019.
- To prepare the youth to express their opinions and visions for the EU and European affairs.
- To generate actual concrete messages and inputs for the debates with relevant politicians.
- To transnationally connect young Europeans, which enables the participants to address different problems and solutions that cross borders.
- To engage and motivate young people and first-time-voters to vote in the 2019 EP election.
You can read more about the project at our website: https://www.yeiv.eu/.
Until the 24th of February it is still possible to apply for participation and we would love for you to share the possibility with the youth of your organization.
