The first residential seminar of the third edition of ‘Shaping European Youth Policies in Theory and Practice’ took place in Zagreb from 13 – 15 November 2017. 45 participants from 13 national delegations discussed about principles, reality, challenges and the future of youth policy in their countries and in Europe.

Cyprus delegation was consisted of Christiana Xenofontos Youth Policy and Project Officer of Cyprus Youth Council, Ms. Eleftheria Christoforou Youth Officer of the National Youth Board and Ms. Theognosia Petrou Youth Officer of Cyprus Youth Clubs Organisation.

The seminar managed to inspire and empower actors in the youth field to shape European youth policies in theory and practice. Moreover, participants had the opportunity to discuss about their national, local and regional realities and share them with the rest.

The seminar was aspired to introduce European youth policy frameworks and relate those frameworks to the variety of realities from local and regional to national and European levels; analyse youth policy concepts and interrogate its main principles and approaches and facilitate the shaping of manageable strategies for intervention in the contexts of the actors present.

The event was planned in synergy with our MOOC on Essentials of Youth Policy, and it was hosted by the Croatian National Agency for Erasmus+ in co-operation with the French National Agency. The second residential seminar will take place in Strasbourg in March 2018 and the in-between phase will consist of developing youth policy in practice in all the participating countries.
